general overview
During my time at Oracle, I was part of a program called Design Initiative which provided support to the sales department in the form of micro-apps interactive prototypes that showcased Oracle standard products combined with modern, cutting-edge design.
The key to the success of this initiative was fast delivery, the design team I was part of had very limited time for each engagement (1-3 days) to come up with research, product design, interactive prototype, and a design presentation we would present back to the stakeholder, either internal or external.
The Process
Each project followed a strict process to ensure the best results, regardless of the time available for each engagement.
Research
Before the actual engagement, we researched the client opportunity and competitive analysis on other similar apps or features in the market.
HCD Workshop
Human-centric design workshop to guide the stakeholders through the decision-making process to better define what are their needs, goals, and problems they want to overcome with their current business solution.
Design
With all the data gathered from research and from the workshop, we would design a series of short user flows that illustrate how we can bring value through standard Oracle products coupled with modern, custom-design
Presentation
We would prepare a short 20-30-minute pitch presentation of our designs with a couple of other elements like a proto-persona, a bit of a backstory, and some benefits of our work and we would present it to the stakeholders.
The apps
Over the course of a year and a half, I was responsible for 35+ apps for name brands such as Volvo, Volkswagen, Engie, Mars, CO-OP, Unibail, Klepiere, 7-Eleven, RSA Insurance, BBVA, Bosch, and many others.
Here are some captures from the apps I’ve designed
